Fun Items To Make To Brighten For Halloween

Create inexpensive Halloween accents for the home.

Halloween is one of the times of year when most people enjoy decorating with seasonal decor. Creating inexpensive DIY Halloween decorations is an easy way to celebrate the holiday. With a few easy-to-find arts and craft supplies, it is possible to make a myriad of spooky and whimsical items to adorn any home.

Halloween Topiaries

Create candy topiaries. Glue candy corn on a Styrofoam cone shape, starting from the bottom edge. Work in rows moving up the cone until the form is filled with candy. Hot-glue a round piece of chenille fabric to the bottom of the cone. Make additional topiaries in small, medium and large sizes using other Halloween candies, such as candy pumpkins or acorns. Place the cones in groupings of three in a kitchen or dining area.

Glitter Pumpkins

Make glitter pumpkins. Holding a small pumpkin by its stem with one hand, use the other hand to coat the outside of the pumpkin with glitter glue. Spread a thick layer of glitter on a paper plate and roll the pumpkin in it until it is thoroughly covered. When dry, hot-glue a plastic spider on the top right area of the pumpkin for an attractive DIY Halloween decoration with sparkling visual appeal.

Eyeball Door Wreath

Assemble an eyeball wreath. Glue a black feather boa to the front of a Styrofoam wreath shape until the form is covered completely. Using a hot glue gun, adhere round Styrofoam balls, in groupings of two, on top of the wreath in a random pattern. Hot-glue a wiggly craft eye on top of each ball. Hang the wreath on a door for a spooky seasonal accessory with maximum Halloween spirit.

Pumpkin Balloons

Fill various sizes of orange-colored balloons with helium and tie them to lengths of thin, black gift-wrap ribbon. Draw pumpkin eyes, noses and mouths on one side of the balloons and display them in groupings around a party food table or as an easy DIY Halloween decoration in any room of the house.

Spoon Ghosts

Cover the entire surface of a large wooden spoon with a piece of unbleached muslin. Gather the fabric around the spoon head and secure it with a rubber band. Tie jute rope around the rubber band to hide it. Draw two eyes on the spoon front to simulate ghost eyes. Make several and display them in an upright container for a handmade Halloween craft that is easy and inexpensive.
