Decorate a boring megaphone with your team colors.
Decorating a megaphone can be a fun way to prepare for pep rallies or field days. Megaphones can be a fun addition to football or baseball games. Decorate a plain megaphone in your favorite team's colors so people know who you are rooting for.
Paint
Paint is a simple way to decorate your megaphone. Use stencils to write words or phrases on the megaphone. Paint pens or puffy paint is also a great way to write, although it may be more difficult to read smaller words from far away. Use the paint pens for drawing pictures or putting in details. Glitter paint can be painted over the entire megaphone to make it really sparkle. Add your detail on top of the dry glitter paint.
Decoupage
Add a layer of paper or photos to your megaphone using decoupage. Scrapbook paper is great for this project because you can purchase it in almost any design. Look in your craft store for a paper you like. Depending on the size of your megaphone, you may need several sheets of paper. Spread a thin layer of decoupage glue on the megaphone with a paint brush, then lay your paper on top. Once the glue had dried, put another layer of glue on top to seal the paper and protect it. If you would rather, use photos of things like the cheer squad or highlights from past games instead of paper.
Foam Letters and Shapes
Purchase foam letters and shapes from the craft store to glue to your megaphone. The shapes can be purchased in theme packages, so you can get a set geared to your specific sport, if you wish. With the letters, write out words such as "Go Team!" or "Yeah!" You can also write your team name or the name of your favorite player. If you can't find any shapes that you want, purchase a sheet of foam and draw your own. Cut them out with scissors and glue them to the megaphone.
Sequins and Feathers
Cheerleaders or little girls may like to decorate their megaphones in a very girly fashion. Use a hot glue gun to attach individual sequins to the megaphone. You can do them in designs or shapes, or simply cover the entire thing. If you are covering the entire megaphone, use sequins that come attached on a strip. Purchase a feather boa in your favorite color and hot glue it around the large opening on the megaphone. Trim the excess. You can also glue some of the boa around the handle. Do not glue it around the mouth hole, or you will get a mouthful of feathers when you go to use the megaphone.
