Princess Party Suggestions For Threeyearolds

There are a world of fun ideas for a toddler's princess party.

A princess party for your baby girl is a chance to have a lot of fun and to create lifelong memories. Whether you're using a cartoon character princess theme, a fairy-tale princess theme, or just want an excuse to take adorable photos, a princess party will be fun for everyone involved.

Invitations

The website Birthday Party Ideas suggests the following for a princess party invitation (in gold ink, and surrounded with plenty of glitter): "Princess Molly of (your child's surname) invites Princess Lucy of Smith to the grand ballroom at (your address)." The website suggests adding that the party will be fancy-dress, and that there will be a small makeup session (to prevent the other mothers from being surprised when their children come home with round red circles on their cheeks). You can buy princess invitations ready-made, or use free online templates with castles, knights and towers that you can print out on your computer.

Cake and Treats

You can buy any number of princess-themed cakes at the supermarket bakery, but sometimes it's more fun to make your own. You can create a crown cake studded with candy jewels, a sand castle cake with upside-down ice cream cones forming the turrets, or a Cinderella castle with white frosting. You can also go with pink-frosted cookies or cupcakes.

Games and Activities

Everybody knows that a princess is always dripping with gold and jewels. Therefore, a royal dress-up session is an appropriate activity at a princess party. You can include toy tiaras, rings, necklaces or even feather boas. A little makeup, applied by the adults, is also a lot of fun. What games do princesses play? Why, "Kiss the Frog," of course! This variation of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" involves reminding the children that a kissed frog can turn into a prince. Apply bright lipstick to the children's lips; tape a poster of a frog to the wall, and blindfold the children one at a time, turning them around and seeing where they plant a kiss. The child who comes closest to the frog's lips, wins.

Royal Favors

The website Birthday Party Ideas suggests sending each little visiting princess home with a silk purse filled with princess party favors. This could include chocolate candies, small stuffed animals -- especially those with a princess theme -- princess stickers, paper crowns or princess-themed coloring books and crayons.
