Have a fashion show birthday party.
This year, let your daughter have the birthday of her dreams --- a fashion show! A fashion show-themed birthday party isn't difficult to arrange and will make her feel like a top model. Use these fashion show birthday ideas to help set the stage for a fashion throw-down.
The Runway
Besides the traditional cake and gift tables you'll need a runway. The fashion show runway will be the area the girls walk down to show off their fashions. If you have the ability to hold the party outside that would be perfect. You could line chairs up a few feet of either side of the runway. At the end of your makeshift runway you could gather all the models together for a finale. If you do hold your fashion show outdoors be sure that the ground is level with no gopher holes that a model could fall in. Grass should be cut low and all obstacles moved out of the way. If you have a paved area that models can use, be sure the ground is level and clean.
The Stage
At the end of the runway you'll need a stage. The stage is where the models change and make their entrance. You could hang a sheet or a couple of colorful sheets from a clothesline or some trees. Pin the sheets over a line you use to keep it from slipping off. Attach lots of balloons and party streamers to the stage curtains. During the fashion show portion of the birthday party someone should stand at the stage and announce the model's names as they come out. He or she will also need to describe the outfit she is wearing.
The Fashions
Take an hour or two to visit the local thrift store for wacky fashions your models can wear. Look for lots of items in a variety of sizes. Pick colors girls typically love, such as pinks or reds. Choose polka dots and stripes, too. Wacky hats are a fashion must-have for this kind of show. You could also include feather boas and large purses. Wash all the clothing you have selected and place them on hangers. To save a little time, put the outfits together for the girls before they get there. That way you don't give the girls an opportunity to squabble over a favorite bauble or shirt. Have parents bring lots of cameras. They can be the paparazzi that snaps photos of these model wannabes.
