Ways To Create A three dimensional Eyeball

Make your own creepy or cute three-dimensional eyeballs.

Eyeballs are a common decoration at Halloween parties and haunted houses. They can either be cute or creepy, depending on the preference of the maker. Three-dimensional eyeballs add more pizazz to decorations that a flat picture. Create your own three-dimensional eyeballs using various craft materials to decorate your home.

Eyeballs in a Jar

Create creepy floating eyes that you can place in a jar or in your punch bowl for a dramatic effect. Roll white. ultralight polymer clay into perfect balls. Flatten another piece of colored clay, such as brown, blue or green, and cut out circles for the iris. For an extra creepy eye, use red polymer clay. Press the iris onto the eye. Repeat the process with black clay, but cut out smaller circles. Roll red clay into thin strands and press them onto the white clay for bloodshot eyes. Bake the clay in the direction you want them to float. For a punch bowl, bake with the iris up. For a jar, bake them with the iris pointing horizontally.

Eyeball Yo-Yo

Use a yo-yo to create a creepy moving eyeball. Wooden yo-yos work best for this craft, but plastic can work as well. Cut out a piece of white paper that will fit over the yo-yo. Color an iris and red bloodshot lines onto the paper using markers. Glue the paper onto your yo-yo. Repeat the process for the other side. Make several of these eyeball yo-yos and hand them out at the Halloween party as favors.

Polystyrene Eyes

Use polystyrene balls to create three-dimensional eyeballs. Shave the outside of the ball for a smooth texture using a razor blade. Paint the iris onto the center of the ball with acrylic paint. Add gradients and shading for a more realistic appearance. While the iris is drying, paint on red bloodshot lines. Finish off the eye by painting the black retina around the iris. Create several of these eyeballs. Place them in random locations to shock guests or float them in the punch bowl.

Meringue Eyes

Create a delicious treat for your guests with these decidedly non-scary eyeballs. Whip up a batch of meringue and spoon into a pastry or plastic bag with the end cut off. Place a piece of parchment paper over a baking sheet to ensure your meringue will not stick. Push the meringue mix from your bag in the shape of an eye. Add a candy-covered chocolate to the center of the meringue and bake in the oven at 300 degrees for 10 minutes. Turn the oven off, leave the door closed and leave the eyes in for another 40 minutes. Place a wooden skewer into the center of the eyes and place them in a smoothie or punch glass.
