Making a turkey foor hat hanger takes turkey hunting to another level.
Making a turkey foot hat hanger is a great way to utilize a part of your turkey that you might normally throw away. When you are preserving the fan, spurs and beard, consider recycling the feet and creating an eye-catching hat hanger. Making a turkey foot hat rack may seem hard at first, but for the cost of a pre-finished plaque and a few other small items, you can make one that will be a conversation starter for years to come.
Instructions
1. Cut the turkey feet off of the turkey 3/8 of an inch below the spurs with utility scissors.
2. Clean the tendons and morrow out of the leg and foot bones with a pipe cleaner.
3. Wash the feet with a mild detergent and rinse them with water.
4. Set the feet flat, with the leg portion pointing up, in a paper-covered box. Allow them to dry undisturbed for one month.
5. Drill pilot holes 1/2 inch deep through the back of the blank wooden plaque, centered vertically 1 inch from each finished edge.
6. Place a drop of super glue on the end of the attached turkey legs. Press one onto the front of the plaque, with the turkey foot pointing up, centered vertically and 1 inch from the right plaque edge. Press the other onto the plaque adjacent to the first one 1 inch from the left plaque edge. Allow the glue to dry for 15 minutes.
7. Screw the wood screws through the pilot holes on the back of the plaque into the leg of the turkey feet, with a drill. The screws secure the turkey feet to the hat rack.
8. Center a picture hanger on the back of the plaque, 1 inch from the top.
