Play dress up at a princess party.
Young girls seem naturally drawn to tales that focus on princesses. Luckily, this popularity means there is no shortage of princess supplies and ideas available for parties. Plan fun activities that will turn your child's special day into a birthday party fit for a princess.
Tea Party
Find a local teashop and reserve enough space for your princess party. Invite guests to come dressed as their favorite princess or prince. Bring extra costumes for children who need to borrow one--this way, no one feels left out while they enjoy tea and cake.
Dress Up Party
Collect princess and prince clothes. Include all the accessories, such as beaded necklaces, crowns or tiaras, shoes and feather boas. Let the children dress up. Provide music while they put on a royal fashion show. Take and print pictures to send home with the guests as a party souvenir.
Craft Party
For this party, the children will make their own princess accessories. Provide such items as crowns, hats, wands and purses for the children to decorate. Create a craft table where the guests can paint, glue and glitter their favorite princess attire. Set out the decorating supplies before the guests arrive.
Jewelry Party
Provide children with the supplies to make glitzy princess necklaces and bracelets. Include beads, charms, string and all the tools needed to make the jewelry. Provide princess outfits, crowns and shoes for the children to wear while they create their own sparkling princess jewelry.
Art Party
There is no limit to the projects guests can create at a princess art party. Craft stores have a variety of projects ready to go. Have the guests decorate such items as princess pillowcases, T-shirts or sun catchers.
Make a Castle
This activity is a great main attraction for children ages 3 to 5. Before the princess party, assemble large cardboard boxes to create a "castle" with rooms.
To create the castle, cut out doors and windows. Tape or staple the boxes together to create rooms. Cover the floor with a dropcloth. Give the children paint, glitter glue, stickers and markers to decorate their castle. If you have artistic talent, draw princesses and other characters on the castle. Let the kids color in the pictures.
