Halloween is a chance to show off your retro style, inner rock star or runway-ready fashionista. Instead of dressing in a frumpy or scary outfit, you can dress up and wear beautiful clothes. Consider a fashionable Halloween outfit this season.
Retro
Hippie chic can be pulled together quickly from thrift store finds. Wear bell bottoms, a long bohemian tunic and a loose-knit or fringed-suede vest. Place a flower child headband in your hair using silk flowers hot glued on a ribbon. Tie it across your forehead. Paint a daisy on your cheek. Wear flip flops or moccasins to complete the look. Dressing for a '50s prom is a fashionable theme. Wear an old, over-the-top prom dress with long, white gloves. Tease your hair into a huge beehive style and spray to hold. Place a tiara in your hair and a large carnation corsage on your wrist. Try to coax your date into wearing a powder blue tux. Consider slipping on a sash that says Prom Queen and a cape for an added touch.
Another retro costume idea is the happy homemaker look. Wear a simple knee-length dress with a short petticoat. Tie a pretty apron around your waist and wear your best pumps and a string of pearls. Accessorize with a feather duster or oven mitts.

Gangster costumes require a few key components; big, double-breasted, pin-striped suit, black hat and white spats. Choose a contrasting tie in white or red for a stylish and tough look.

Pop stars offer many possibilities for fashionable Halloween costumes. Go back in time with some choices from the '80s. Madonna alone gives you plenty of styles from which to choose. Prepare to look like Madge with a white bustier; lacy, white skirt; white lace gloves; and tons of costume jewelry.
Pat Benatar is a tough girl rocker. Make a costume to suit this singer with black leggings; a long, red top belted over in black; black high heels; and a motorcycle jacket. Wear heavy black eyeliner and messy hair.
Michael Jackson had a very particular eye for fashion. His signature jacket, skinny pants, white socks with black loafers and a single glove will recreate the look for which he is most known.
Emulate Elton John with a crazy blazer from the thrift store and enormous sunglasses. Add a feather boa, white dress shoes and any other wacky, colorful accessory that you find.
For more current pop stars, dress up as Gwen Stefani or Lady Gaga. Emulate Gwen with skinny, light-blue denim pants; a white muscle shirt; and a huge, black belt. Red high heels, extra-high hair and deep red lips complete the look. Lady Gaga gives you many options. Make a recognizable costume with a bleach-blond wig, extra-high heels or thigh-high boots. The outfit itself can be anything from a leotard to a pleather mini-dress. Look for asymmetrical, outrageous futuristic designs if you want to become Lady Gaga for the evening.

Donatella Versace is a possibility for serious fashion lovers. Wear a long, platinum-blond wig and tight, black pants or a gold-sequined gown. Spray tan or wear heavy bronzer to get her look. This can also be a Barbie costume; the two looks are similar.
For a Audrey Hepburn look, wear skinny black capris, a white, button-down shirt and black flats. Complete by tying a scarf around your head and wearing big sunglasses.
