Whether you have twins girls or daughters close in age who share a bedroom, it's important to adorn the space with a theme they'll both like. If your girls love finding out the latest news on their favorite movie stars, or if watching movies is a favorite pastime of theirs, a red-carpet decor is ideal; there are several ways to make the room both animated and sophisticated using this theme.
Red Carpets and Accessories
Select an area rug in the same shape as the red carpet used for Hollywood awards ceremonies and adorn the center of the room with it. The accent can serve as a decorative divider, giving each girl equal space in the room. Red curtains in a similar material as the area rug will give the bedroom a sense of old Hollywood glamor; purchase gold or silver curtain ties to accent the drapes. Velvet ropes in red or gold at the end of the girls' beds are indicative of red-carpet style as they represent the exclusive nature of Hollywood events.
Stars and Lights
Accent the dresser or nightstands with Christmas or rope lights, or purchase large, movie star-style globe lights to go around the mirrors of each girl's vanity. Frame posters that feature each daughter's favorite celebrities and decorate each side of the room with them. It's also a good idea to use actual star images in the bedroom, such as star-shaped mirrors on the walls or lamps with a base in the shape of a star.
Wall Art
Paint the accent wall in the bedroom with each of your daughter's names in Hollywood-style letters. Or, hire a professional artist to paint the image of the Hollywood sign on the accent wall; instead of the letters that spell Hollywood, request that your children's names be featured in the hills. Wallpaper borders that resemble film strips are fitting for a red-carpet bedroom as well, along with decals in the shape of the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Purchase stencils of bullhorns or old-fashioned cameras, so you can trace the images onto the side walls to further emphasize the theme.
Additional Accents
Take a few candid shots of each of your daughters, enlarge the photos and give them a black and white or sepia finish. Frame the pictures and hang them on each side of the bedroom, respectively. Lampshades with black and white movie print will stand out in a red carpet-style bedroom as well. Bring a trunk into the room filled with glamorous dress-up clothing, such as feather boas or sequin ball gowns for your girls to wear when they're pretending to be their favorite celebrities; place a camera in the room, so the two of them can take pictures of one another that you can add to the wall later.
