How You Can Spray Clean Silk Trees

You can clean silk trees quickly by using your shower.

Silk trees are often expensive, so it's important to protect them and keep them clean. Dust them with a feather duster or other dusting tool each week. Over time a silk tree can become grimy with dust, soil or stains. It is not difficult to spray them with water to clean the leaves, branches and trunks. The key is to work quickly while spray washing the silk tree.

Instructions

1. Dust the silk tree thoroughly with a feather duster or other dusting tool.

2. Check the silk tree thoroughly before using water to clean it. If it looks hand-painted or has a stem area that is wrapped with floral tape, it may be best to simply blow the dust off with pressurized canned air or a blow dryer.

3. Remove the silk tree from its pot. Often, the trees are set in a woven, decorative basket or have moss or other loose material in the pot. Removing the tree allows you to clean it thoroughly without damaging the pot or whatever it is standing in.

4. Lay the silk tree in your bathtub, shower cubicle or on a wooden deck or patio table outside.

5. Turn the shower on in the bathtub area. Use cold water to clean the tree; warm or hot water may damage or dissolve any glued areas. Use a garden hose and nozzle to spray the tree outside.

6. Work quickly on the tree. You do not want it exposed to the water spray any longer than necessary. Rub any stains or stubborn soils between your index finger and thumb.

7. Shake the tree gently to knock off any excess water once you have thoroughly cleaned it.

8. Remove it from the shower or deck area and lay it on top of a clean towel on the floor, outside patio table or a clothes drying rack. This allows air to circulate around the silk tree and dry it quickly.

9. Use a blow dryer set on cool or low air to speed up the drying process. Place the dry silk tree back into its pot once it is dry. It ought to look new again.
