Fashion Teen Bed room Ideas

Decorate a glam room for your teen, whether trendy or sophisticated.

Incorporate a glamorous theme into your teen bedroom design if she has a flair for the dramatic or simply enjoys the finer things in life. Balance the teen's bedroom with a few glam details without creating a room that's too grown-up or mature for the teen's personality. Use a glamorous theme or color scheme that reflects the teen's style.

Color Schemes

Build an entire glamorous bedroom around a color scheme that's fitting for the teen. Metallic and jewel-toned colors such as silver, fuchsia, sapphire blue, amethyst purple or emerald green are some colorful options. Slate blue, chocolate brown or charcoal gray are strong colors that work well with a glamorous theme and are easily interchangeable with other colors. Black and white or black, white and red are other color combinations worth considering for a glam teen room.

Themes

Go beyond a simple "glam" theme for something more detailed. Shiny items such as rhinestones, silver or sparkly materials can lend themselves to a bling-bling theme. Hollywood glamour can include red velvet, black-and-white photos of your favorite stars, and feather boas. Broadway glam can include details from the setting of your favorite Broadway production.

Furniture

Most teen bedrooms are on the small side, which means every piece of furniture in the room should contribute to the dramatic, glam look you want. Oversized, elaborate or upholstered headboards can add glamorous flair to the room. Likewise, a dressing table with a velvet-covered bench or a high heel-shaped chair in one corner can add to the look of the room. Include a tall bookshelf, desk and dresser if there's room. Hide your TV and media equipment in an armoire if possible.

Fabrics

Shiny, satiny materials are ideal for bedding, window treatments and pillows. Velvet can work on an upholstered headboard, chairs or drapes. Mix different fabrics in the room for more texture, contrast and interest. Play with patterns and colors as well. Stripes, animal prints, brocade and damask are some ideas if you want something beyond solid colors. Furry pillows and rugs are another option.

Details

Small details and accessories will pull the room together to create the glam look you desire. Replace your light fixture with a chandelier dripping with gold and crystals or Tiffany-styled glass. Gilded gold picture frames and mirrors or an old-fashioned mirror with huge lights around it can create a timeless glamorous look. Paint the wall behind your bed or use wallpaper to create interest. Frame pictures or bulletin boards with huge peel-and-stick faux jewels or rhinestones.
