Trace a picture of a tiara onto the princess bag.
Create a beautiful fashion accessory for a little princess from a little bit of luxurious satin or velvet fabric. You can make the bag for a little girl to use in pretend play, or use the princess bag as an activity at a princess or beauty-themed birthday party. Make the bags ahead of time from some inexpensive, pretty fabric. Lay a bag at each child's place setting at the table and have the girls decorate the bags with tiara-shaped stencils and fabric markers, glue-on gemstones and crystal beads.
Instructions
1. Lay the fabric on your work surface. Draw a rectangle for the bag. Make the rectangle about 8 inches wide by 20 inches long for a medium-size bag, or 12 inches wide by 30 inches long for a large bag. Cut out the rectangle for the bag.
2. Place the fabric on your work surface, with the good side facing upward. Fold the fabric in half to reduce the length by half.
3. Pin the sides of the bag together. Sew a straight stitch down each side to join the sides.
4. Fold over 1/2-inch of fabric along the top of the bag and sew a straight stitch to make a finished top edge. Turn the bag right side out.
5. Cut a piece of satin ribbon or cord about 24 inches long and pin the ends to top right and left inside of the bag. Sew the ribbon or cord ends to the bag to make the handle.
6. Measure the circumference of the opening of the bag. Cut a piece of feather boa to this length. Pin the boa all the way around the top edge of the bag and sew it in place for an embellished top.
7. Lay the bag down and place a tiara stencil on the front center of the bag. Trace the stencil with a silver or gold metallic fabric marker. Remove the stencil.
8. Apply a little bit of fabric glue to the back of some imitation gemstones or beads and place them at random places on the front and back of the bag.
