Wristlet corsages are an easy alternative to a bouquet.
Wrist corsages are a beautiful alternative to pin-on corsages or bouquets. Wrist corsages are made with elastic bands, which are sold at craft stores for the purpose of creating such corsages. The elastic loop features a metal H clip with prongs that fold over flower stems to hold the corsage securely. Because the band is elastic, the wrist corsage will fit all arm sizes. Wrist corsages can be created from fresh or artificial flowers in about 30 minutes.
Instructions
1. Cut the flower stems to measure 2 inches from the bottom of the flower.
2. Place the two medium flowers beside each other. Align the stems and place the small flower on top of the medium flower stems, with the flower directly below the two medium flowers. Hold the stems tightly.
3. Wrap green florist tape around the stem cluster from the bottom to the top beneath the flowers. Florist tape is a sticky paper that has some elasticity to it. Taping the flower stems together will hold the flowers as a unit, making the wristlet corsage more secure. Rip the tape off at the end and press it firmly to the tape beneath.
4. Squirt a line of glue vertically in the center of the metal H clip. Center the taped stem unit over the glue and press down firmly. Fold the H clip prongs up and over the taped stems as tight as you can fold them. Arrange the leaves of the flowers or the flowers themselves so that the leaves or petals cover the clip prongs. Wrap the the stems and prongs with florist tape if desired. This makes for a bulkier corsage, but will hide the metallic prongs if they are still visible beneath the leaves or petals.
5. Add a pencil top eraser-sized dot of glue on top of the elastic band beneath the flowers and/or leaves. Press any flower part or leaves down onto the glue to secure.
6. Cut a sprig of baby's breath to measure about 2 inches long. Squirt a small dab of glue onto the stem. Push the stem between the flowers where desired. Baby's breath can be strategically glued between flowers and leaves to help conceal the metal clip.
