Pink & Black Wedding Styles

Your pink and black wedding can include a getaway car with a pink top.

Brides and grooms planning a pink and black wedding can make use of the two colors' bold contrast to create a memorable theme. While black and white are often used in abundance in wedding decor, pink -- especially the darker pinks that contrast best with black -- should be used as an accent in order to not overwhelm the wedding with the rich color.

Parisian Wedding

Create a chic wedding with a Parisian theme in pink and black. Print your invitations on soft pink card stock with a toile print or Paris map watermark in the background. Dress your bridesmaids in classic black cocktail or floor length dresses with wide pink sashes at the waist; you can wear a pink sash with your wedding dress to match or accessorize your white with pink pearl jewelry. Use pink roses or tulips in crystal bowls for table centerpieces and tiny Eiffel Towers as place-card holders or favors. Choose the classic French wedding cake -- a cone-shaped stack of tiny cream puffs called a croquembouche -- or a tiered cake with pink frosting and black ribbon accents, topped with an Eiffel Tower.

Grease

For a less formal wedding, go back to the 1950s with a "Grease"-themed wedding. Dress the groom and groomsmen in leather jackets and jeans, while the bride and bridesmaids go in Pink Lady poodle skirts, Capris and short satin jackets. Serve 1950s finger foods and pink punch. Decorate with pink, black and white balloons and give away copies of the movie "Grease" or the movie soundtrack as favors. Hire a '50s cover band to play at the reception and be sure to hire a 1950s pink Cadillac as your get-away car once the festivities are over.

Polka Dots

Pink, black and white polka dots make a striking graphic statement when used as a wedding theme. This is a particularly good theme if you want to use hot pink or other deep pink shade. Dress the men in black tuxedos with black and white polka dot accessories and the bridesmaids in fabric with bold polka dots or solid black dresses with pink trim. Tie black and pink polka dot ribbon around chair backs and centerpieces at the reception tables and around bouquets of hot pink daisies for the bridal party. Dot your white wedding cake with pink and black fondant cut-outs and top with a pink fondant bow. Order customized M&Ms in black and pink, and tie the candies in sheer bags for guests to take home at the end of the evening.

Masquerade Ball

Plan an elegant masquerade ball wedding in pink and black. Send invitations with a black and white diamond border, asking guests to dress in ballgowns and tuxedos or to accessorize with pink and black jewelry and accents. Decorate with black and white paisley and lace linens and be sure to use long black and pink feathers in your centerpieces. On your cake, use black, pink and silver fondant in diamond, stripe and pearl patterns. Top the cake with an ornate mask. For wedding favors, make or purchase a mask for each guest with pink and black accents and offer them for wearing at the beginning of the reception rather than the end.
