A rose bouquet is an elegant touch.
A wedding can be the single most expensive investment an engaged couple makes outside of more tangible purchases like homes and vehicles. If you prefer to be more practical, either by choice or necessity, you can cut corners in several areas. Choosing a rose bouquet does not necessarily mean you have to spend a great deal of money. You can create a picture perfect bouquet for your wedding.
Single Rose Bouquets
A single, long-stemmed rose makes a distinctive statement.
A long-stemmed rose is elegant standing on its own. Remove the thorns from the stem and tie a wide satin ribbon around it. Allow the ribbon to flow several inches below the stem. The rose can be in any color you desire. You can match your wedding party colors or simply pick according to your favorite color. This understated choice makes quite an impression and complements any style wedding.
Miniature Roses
Miniature roses can be made into a charming bouquet.
Miniature roses tend to be less costly than larger ones. This means you can use more of them for less. Purchase a large Styrofoam floral ball. Hot glue both ends of a 6-to-8 inch length of ribbon to the ball to form a handle. Next, cut the roses so that only about an 1 1/2 of the stems are left. Insert them around the entire ball until there are no bare spots. Miniature roses can be more difficult to work with than the larger varieties, so this will take a certain amount of patience. When you are finished, you will have an elegant pomander to carry in lieu of a traditional rose bouquet.
Last-Minute Bouquets
You can have an inexpensive rose bouquet.
Roses are sold in practically every grocery store and floral shop--daily. As a result, roses are marked down when they do not sell quickly. Since you will only use your roses for a few hours, consider making this your last purchase before walking down the aisle. Pick up a bouquet of discounted roses a few hours before your wedding.
Before the wedding day, prepare your own tussie mussie to hold your roses. Fold decorative cardstock into a cone shape. Hot glue the edges to hold it in place. Use a chenille stem and tinsel to form a handle. Around the top edge of the tussie mussie, glue white feathers or lace. Arrange your roses and greenery to your liking and enjoy your inexpensive, yet elegant bouquet.
