Grime Demon Featherlite Belt Change Instructions

Dirt Devil Featherlite
Belt Change Instructions

Vacuum cleaners are made to suck up dirt from the carpet and floor. The Dirt Devil Featherlite vacuum uses a belt to spin the brushroll at the base of the vacuum, which helps to pick up hair and other small items. Over time, this belt can stretch or break. If this happens, the brushroll will not be able to turn with the vacuum, which will be unable to get the surface as clean as possible. To fix the problem, you have to replace the belt.

Instructions

1. Unplug the vacuum. Turn it over to gain access to the bottom side of the base and inspect the brushroll. Remove the two screws in the center of the base just above the brushroll using the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the screw on the left side by the wheel. Push in the tabs just above the brushroll on the outside of the base with your thumbs. Lift off the guard.

2. Pull the brushroll out of the vacuum and off the belt. Remove the belt from the motor shaft using your hands. Install the replacement belt onto the motor shaft with your hands, looping it around the end as the original belt was positioned.

3. Put the brushroll into the belt. Position the belt in the groove on the left side of the brushroll. Tilt the brushroll into the vacuum. Tilt the belt side in. Push in the right side.

4. Reinstall the nozzle guard by pushing it down until the tabs lock in place. Reinstall the screws using the screwdriver. Turn the brushroller by hand a few times before you start the vacuum again.
