Since the early 90s, Adobe Photoshop has been the program of choice for professionally editing and enhancing photos. Today, Photoshop is the go-to post-production tool for pros and photo enthusiasts alike. Despite its popularity, some "newbies" may find it difficult to use all the tools and features of Photoshop. One of the simplest and most vital techniques that eludes Photoshop users is adjusting the skin tones in images.
Instructions
1. Open the image you wish to edit by dragging the image file to the Photoshop window. Bring up the "Color Range" dialog by clicking the "Select" menu item and choosing "Color Range." In the "Select" combo box, choose "Highlights" and make sure that the "Invert" checkbox is checked. Click "OK" and certain areas of the image should have animated outlines.
2. Click on the "Select" menu again, point to "Modify," and select "Feather." Enter a value between 20 and 40, but you may need to experiment on what value fits every individual image.
3. Select the "Image" menu, go to "Adjustments," and choose the "Levels" item. Refer to the histogram and drag the white triangle on the bottom right to the point where the histogram actually ends. Keep an eye on the image as well since the edit will reflect the output in real-time as a preview so drag the slider until you are satisfied with the results.
4. (or any newer versions)
