Chapel Crafts For Ladies

Creating crafts with women at church promotes fellowship while helping others.

The women's ministry at a church promotes fellowship among the ladies of a congregation while supporting needs and causes in the community surrounding the church. One of the best ways to do this is by creating crafts that are beautiful and useful. The women who make them will have fun while making them, and the people who receive them will find pleasure and use in the items.

Painting

Conduct a painting workshop as part of the women's ministry, where the ladies can create portraits of your church building, the pastors or members of the congregation. You may also choose to be a tad more abstract and have them paint personal memoirs of their own religious and spiritual experiences. Once the paintings are completed, exhibit them at church in a gallerylike format and invite the community to see the creativity of the women in your church. You may even want to sell the paintings to raise funds for other ministries and activities within the church.

Jewelry

Jewelry projects are always popular, as the materials are readily available at any craft store and the creators can choose whether to keep their pieces simple or ornate. One can use old pieces that have been sitting in dusty jewelry boxes for years in new ways and give them new life. The jewelry can be worn by the ladies of the women's ministry, sold at a church bazaar or given to ladies who are recovering in hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.

Scarves and Hats

Many people love to have hand-knit items during the fall and winter months, and creating scarves and hats as part of your women's ministry will ensure that they and their families are bundled up and warm when it is cold outside. The group can also make a surplus of these supplies in varying colors to give to homeless shelters and soup kitchens, or to keep on hand at church in case a congregation member or person in the community comes in with a need.

Gift Baskets

In a group of women, there are always birthdays, anniversaries, births and weddings that are taking place. Gift baskets are a great way to give many small items that people may need in one sophisticated package. Fill a baby's basket with booties, bottles, diapers, pacifiers and baby lotion. A birthday basket may have chocolate, wine, a book and a CD. You can also fill gift baskets with a collection of all the crafts you have made with the women's ministry throughout the year.
