Diy Retro Circus Baby Shower Celebration

Plan a baby shower with charm and the appeal of a retro circus.

The arrival of a new baby is one of the most exciting times in a family's life. To celebrate this momentous occasion and to help the parents prepare for their bundle of joy, friends and family of the mother to be often plan a baby shower. Create a memorable shower by embracing the whimsical decor and entertaining focus of a retro circus for a baby shower theme.

Instructions

1. Send out circus-themed invitation. Keep the design classic with a bold, capitalized text and a simple striped border that mimics the look of a vintage circus poster. A headline such as, "Come see the Amazing Expanding Jones Family," is both attention grabbing and fits for a circus theme. Be sure to include the details of the event, too, such as the date, time and location, as well as information about the family's registry.

2. Decorate the space to transform any room or outdoor patio into an exciting circus environment. Inflate colorful balloons, in shades like bright red and gold, to give the room bursts of color and fun. Streamers, string lights and paper lanterns adorning the ceiling of the room give the feeling of being in the big top.

3. Adorn the tables in red and white striped cloth for a traditional, colorful circus set up. Simple glass mason jars filled with flowers lend a classic look to the table. Complete the tabletop decor with vintage animal toys, such as giraffes and elephants.

4. Serve a variety of treats that would fit right in at a circus. Grilled food and fried favorites like onion rings and French fries provide guests with the flavors of the circus. For a healthier spin, try serving up grilled chicken sausages with peppers and onion or low fat turkey burgers. Red and white striped boxes filled with popcorn, swirled lollipops, colorful macaroons and bite-sized cupcakes make delicious theme-appropriate snacks.

5. Set up activities for the guests, making them feel like they are at the circus. Rent a photo booth, where guests can take their picture. Include a top hat, feather boa or other accessories to give their photographs an especially circus-like appearance. Play games, such as having guests guess the birthday, time or weight of the baby, gift bingo or trivia, and give the winners small prizes.
