How To Get A Boudoir Photograph

Meant for that special someone in your life, a boudoir photograph captures the essence of romance and intimacy. It enhances your natural beauty and provides you with an image of your inner sensuality. Keep some tips in mind if you would like to take boudoir photographs.

Instructions

1. Plan the lighting. In photography, lighting is everything and boudoir photography is no exception. Due to the nature of the shot, most sessions take place in private studios. If you don't have studio lighting, you can use work lights on tripods, indirect window lighting and your camera flash. Arrange the lights so no shadows are apparent on the model's face.

2. Prepare the background by hanging a plain colored sheet or canvas to block out distracting furniture, pictures and walls. Black and white are both good for the sensual effect they create. Make sure the model is not casting a shadow on the background by arranging one of the lights behind her, shining directly on the background.

3. Gather props before you begin taking photos. You may want a sturdy folding table, covered with a sheet or throw that matches the background, allowing the model to recline. Consider adding soft throws, feather boas and other items that suggest intimacy for a glamour photograph.

4. Make sure the model is relaxed by allowing her to keep a robe on as you set up the shot, removing it only when you're ready to take the photos. Provide adequate props to cover sensitive body areas unless the model wants nude shots.

5. Accessorize the model by asking her to bring apparel items that complement the boudoir photography theme. Thigh-high sheer stockings, spike heels and lingerie work well, but an oversized man's button-up shirt can also be sexy. Listen to the model and gear the scene to her desired result.

6. Take your time. A boudoir photography session often lasts one or two hours since it takes time for the model to relax in her surroundings. Plan to spend as much time as needed to get that perfect glamour photograph.
