Make a craft macaw out of paper and other ordinary materials.
If you are looking for a interesting craft about tropical birds, then make a macaw craft rattler out of ordinary craft materials such as construction paper, a toliet paper roll and popcorn kernels. This is an amusing craft that children will find entertaining because it makes noise. Make sure, however, that the children you give the macaw rattler to are old enough not to put the popcorn kernels in their mouths.
Instructions
1. Place a toilet paper roll on your workspace. Cover one end with strips of masking tape so that the tape forms a cover over the toilet paper roll's end.
2. Place a popsicle stick inside the other end of the toilet paper roll. Hold it in place with masking tape. Put some rocks, beans or popcorn inside the toilet paper roll and cover the other end with masking tape.
3. Print out a free macaw template from DLTK Kids, and cut out the pieces.
4. Swipe a glue stick across the large rectangular piece, and wrap it around the toilet paper roll. Next glue the small rectangular piece on the bottom of the roll.
5. Fold the beak in half, and glue it at the top midpoint of the toilet paper roll, where the macaw's head will be.
6. Plug in a hot glue gun with a glue stick inserted. Allow the glue to warm up. Glue two googly eyes and feathers on the macaw.
