A paper sack can be used to make Thanksgiving turkey crafts.
A paper sack is a great base for a Thanksgiving turkey craft. There are a variety of ways to make a turkey out of a paper sack, though. Each craft utilizes craft materials, along with paper sacks.
Turkey Craft 1
This project is made by stuffing a brown paper sack with crumpled newspapers. Only half of the paper sack is filled with newspaper. The turkey's head and neck are formed by twisting the opening of the paper sack. Glue googly eyes and a yellow felt triangle to the balled up part of the sack. Kids can glue or tape a deflated red balloon so that it hangs off the turkey's face. A large brown paper sack (like one from the grocery store) makes the turkey's body. Kids should cut a hole on a side of the large brown sack that is near the bottom of the sack. The twisted turkey neck is then inserted into the hole. The large sack should be filled up two-thirds of the way with more crumpled newspaper. The kids should secure the opening of the large sack with a rubber band, and then glue various colors of feathers to the secured opening.

Kids will use a paper plate and a pencil to divide the front of the plate into eight equal pie sections. Kids should color in each pie section with a different crayon or marker. A large pear shape is cut out of a brown paper bag and glued to the paper plate. The small part of the pear should be glued to the center of the plate, where the pie sections come together. This should leave a couple of inches of paper bag to hang off the end. The kids then cut out a beak and turkey feet from orange construction paper and glue them to the paper bag material. They finish by drawing on eyes and a red gobble neck.

Kids will cut off the top half of a brown paper bag and set it to the side. They will pour a cup of uncooked rice in the bottom of the paper bag. The open part of the sack should be closed and stapled shut. Brown acrylic paint should be poured onto a paper plate so kids can dip the flat side of a sponge onto the paint and dab the sponge all over the stapled brown bag. The kids make wings by taking the discarded top half of the paper bag and cutting both sides open so there are two equal pieces. The sponge should be dabbed all over these two pieces of brown paper. Once the paint has dried, the kids will take one of these brown pieces of paper and fold it accordion style. The fan should then be stapled at one end so the folds fan out. The same process is repeated for the other piece of brown paper bag. Kids will glue one wing to each side of the rice-filled bag, making sure to connect the stapled part of the wing to the bag. They then cut two 1/2-inch by 8-inch strips of orange construction paper, fold both strips accordion style, and then glue them to the bottom of the rice-filled sack, so they look like the turkey's feet. They should be provided with a ripped out magazine page so they can coat it with brown paint. Once it has dried, they will fold it accordion style, as well, and then attach it the stapled portion of the rice-filled bag. A bulb shape is cut from a piece of brown construction paper and glued to the thinner part to the bottom of the rice-filled back, so the larger part of the bulb becomes the turkey's head. Students should glue a small triangle cut from yellow construction paper to the turkey's face, and draw on eyes.
