How You Can Catch Black Drum

Black drum, also known as sea drum and drumfish, are saltwater fish that usually grow to around 16 inches long. Most of them weigh about 40 lbs., but they can get as big as 140 lbs. They are considered easy to catch since they don't put up much of a fight and do not require special fishing equipment.

Instructions

1. Tie the swivel to one end of the mono filament leader. Tie the hook to the other end. Slide the egg sinker onto the line coming off the fishing pole.

2. Tie the swivel from the black drum rig onto the fishing line coming off of the fishing pole. This should allow the sinker to slide up and down the fishing line, but prevent it from going past the swivel.

3. Hook non-artificial bait on the line. Black drum love dead chunks of bait such as mullet, squid, shrimp and blue claw crabs.

4. Cast into deep water with structures. Black drum tend to gather around bridges and deeper canals of water. Let the bait sink to the bottom. Reel in the extra slack in the line.

5. Wait patiently for a black drum to bite. A black drum will likely mouth the bait before it takes it and tries to run. Allow the fish to run for two to four seconds then set the hook with medium pressure.
