Princess Party Suggestions For 6yearolds

Plan a princess-themed birthday celebration for your 6-year-old.

One thing many young girls pretend to be during playtime is a princess, especially six-year-olds. If your little girl enjoys imagining being a princess, throwing her a princess birthday party may be the perfect idea. No matter what your budget, you can throw a memorable princess party for your six-year-old.

Food and Drinks

Think pink when planning your party menu. Appropriate drinks include berry smoothies, watermelon slushes, pink lemonade, raspberry ginger ale and strawberry punch. The birthday cake or cupcakes can be any flavor you want, topped with pink-tinted frosting. Use just a few drops of red food coloring mixed with white icing to get a rosy hue. Though you may not be able to make your food pink, you can serve it on pink plates along with pink cutlery. These items are readily available at most dollar and party supply stores. Serve foods six-year-olds usually like to eat, such as chicken nuggets, fruit pieces, macaroni and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Favors

Try to make your favors as pretty and girly as possible. For example, find small purses from your local dollar or discount store and fill them with clear lip gloss or balm, glitter stickers and a piece of pink taffy. Alternatively, you can have the guests make their own princess wand favors as part of your party entertainment. Provide the girls with glitter pipe cleaners, star shapes cut out of construction paper, tape and stick-on rhinestones. To make the wands sturdier, staple the star shapes onto the pipe cleaners before guests arrive and then let them decorate the stars with glitter glue, stickers, markers or crayons.

Activities

Six-year old girls usually love playing dress up. Visit your nearest vintage or thrift shop and purchase girl's formal dresses, shoes and costume jewelry. Help the girls make their outfits complete with feather boas, which can be purchased from a party supply shop. Other activities six-year-olds at a princess party would enjoy include a princess-themed scavenger hunt, making princess crowns or hats, watching princess movies and face painting.
