Little girls love to play dress up.
Little girls love getting dressed up in costumes and pretending they are fairy princesses or glamorous pop stars. Playing pretend is a wonderful way for children to use their imagination and learn about the world. If you are hosting a group of young starlets and want to engage them in games for dress up and makeup, there are many imaginative and fun activities you can teach them.
Copy Cat
Copy Cat incorporates dress-up fun and the excitement of competition. Break the girls up into teams. For each team, provide an assortment of dress-up items such as hats, feather boas, dresses, shoes, jewelry, sunglasses and tiaras. Both groups should have basically the same items. Create cards with drawings (even stick drawings will work) of a person wearing a combination of the items. On "go," each team must dress up one member to look like the card you have selected. The first team to make it to you fully dressed and looking the most like the card, wins.
Runway Zoo
Another game that girls can play with their dress-up clothes is called Runway Zoo. The premise of the game is a fashion show. One girl is the fashion designer. She can dress up however she pleases. Next, she dresses each of the other girls in whatever she likes. Now it's time for the fashion show. Each girl must walk down the runway, spin and walk back. However, right before each girl's turn, the fashion designer whispers the name of an animal in her ear. She must walk down the runway in the style of the animal. All the other girls must guess what animal she is. The girl that guesses the most correctly, gets to be the designer in the next round.
Makeup Mirror
Makeup Mirror is a hysterical game for little girls, provided their mothers don't care how dirty they get. This game requires a smock and a good facial scrubbing directly after. Divide the girls up into teams of two. Each girl gets a set of brightly-colored makeup including lipstick, blush and eye shadow (no eyeliners or mascara, because you don't want anyone to get poked in the eye). The teams of girls sit on the floor facing each other. On "go," each girl does her partner's makeup. They both try to make each other up at the same time. The fun part is the time limit. Whoever finishes first and looks the best, wins. The girls will have so much fun trying to make each other up, they probably won't care who wins.
