Different Designs For Peaches & Creme Yarn

Garments knitted with natural yarns are comfortable, breathable and maintain their shape well.

Peaches & Creme yarn is a popular brand of natural cotton and rayon yarns, manufactured in Old Fort, North Carolina. The company began dyeing and packaging yarns for hand knitting, crocheting and apparel in the early 1940s and continues to supply yarns and threads to clothing manufacturers and crafters. Peaches & Creme yarn is available both online and in craft stores. The Peaches & Creme website offers many knit and crochet patterns, free and for-sale. The yarn is available in two weight classes, 4-ply worsted weight and 8-ply double-worsted weight. Peaches & Creme yarn may be used for any knit or crochet pattern that recommends a natural-fiber, worsted-weight or bulky yarn.

Peaches & Creme Yarn Characteristics

All solid-color varieties of Peaches & Creme worsted-weight yarn are available in 2 to 2.5 oz. balls and 14 oz. cones. Double worsted-weight yarns are sold in 4 to 5 oz. balls and 16 oz. cones. One pound of the worsted-weight yarns is approximately 780 yards. One pound of double worsted-yarn yields approximately 400 yards. The yarns are dimensionally stable and washable, however, the manufacturer recommends testing the yarn for color-fastness before laundering.

Peaches & Creme Patterns

The Peaches & Creme website offers many easy-to-follow patterns for knitting, crochet and weaving. The patterns include photos of the finished items, a general description of the project steps, recommended needle or hook gauges and recommended stitch sizes. You can purchase patterns online or use the free patterns provided by the manufacturer. Although the Peaches & Creme free patterns do not include step-by-step images, they are written in a bulleted format and are simple to follow.

Other Pattern Resources

Peaches and Creme yarn may be used for just about any crafting project that calls for worsted weight or bulky yarn. Countless books, magazines and online sites offer yarn-crafting patterns for purchase or free.

Matching Yarn to the Project

Depending on the weight of yarn you plan to use, look for patterns that recommend worsted weight, also called aran-weight yarn, or bulky yarn. For the most accurate match, use a pattern that recommends yarn in the same weight class, expressed in units of yards/pound.

Creative Applications

Due to the absorbency of Peaches & Creme yarns, they are often used to create decorative face cloths, dishrags and hand towels. Peaches & Creme yarn is also popular for use in making Amigurumi toys due to the yarn's dimensional stability and wide variety of available colors.
