Decorating with paper lanterns gives a space a fun and festive feeling. They are available in a large range of styles, so you are sure to find a paper lantern that will match your décor. Add party lights for extra atmosphere. With additional complementary decorating, you can achieve many different moods.

Instructions

1. Hang paper lanterns from nearby trees and branches when you are dining outside. Attach the lanterns with fishing line or decorative ribbons.

2. Add paper lanterns to your dining table. Place votive candles inside the lanterns for a romantic feel. Alternatively, place small strings of LED lights in your paper lanterns to lend a colorful glow to your area.

3. Create focal points in your room or outdoor by grouping several paper lanterns together. Combine shapes, sizes and colors of paper lanterns to add variety.

4. Set paper lanterns in a row on your table as a centerpiece. Add a vase of flowers in the center for variety. An alternative is to place lanterns behind a buffet counter.

5. Hang lanterns at different heights to create added effect. Use different colored ribbons for extra variety.

6. Put paper lanterns in trees, on bushes, trellises and canopies. Add craft butterflies or flowers for a nature theme.

7. Line the top and bottom edges of paper lanterns with feather boas for a glamorous and elegant feeling. Attach the boas to the lanterns with double-sided tape.
