Wherever you decide to hold the party, be sure to have a cake.
Girls' birthday parties can be held at your child's favorite location, or choose a brand new venue that you know they will enjoy based on their interests. Before finalizing the details, find out what is included at the facility. Some have limits on the amount of guests allowed, decorations and food. You will also want to know what the cancellation policy is for the facility, is tipping expected and who is responsible for cleaning up.
Art Studio
Call local art studios to see if they have space to rent for a birthday party. Some studios have a list of possible classes specifically for birthday parties, such as painting jewelry boxes, beading jewelry or learning an art technique.
Several pottery places have party rooms for birthday parties. Children choose a piece of pottery, paint it at a table with the rest of the party guests and have a personalized party favor to take home.
Tea Shop
Hold a formal tea party at a tea house, cafe or restaurant. Many tea houses are set up for girls' birthday parties. Invite guests to dress up for this party. Provide feather boas, fans or white gloves as party favors. Add a fashion show to the itinerary, allowing the guests to show off their outfits.
Dance Studio
If the birthday girl loves to dance, she can hold her party at a local studio. Ask if the facility has party plans available or if there is an instructor willing to teach a private class for the party. Encourage the girls to dress up for the party, and you can videotape their performance for a later group showing.
Swimming Pool
Rent a local pool or recreation center for your child's birthday party. Even if you cannot rent the entire facility, you can often still hold a birthday party at a pool. Set up your decorations and party food on a nearby table, or lay out colorful towels and provide new water toys or goggles as party favors.
Skating Rink
Check with your local roller or ice skating rink to see if one of their party packages will fit your needs. They often have a room included with a party hostess to help run the party. Decorations, food, cake and game tokens are often a part of the plans in addition to the time on the skating rink.
Spa
Send the girls to the spa. Look for a local spa that will accommodate a birthday party. Consider having a child-friendly theme to the manicures, pedicures and facial treatments. If cost is a factor, the birthday girl can invite only her closest friends to share in her special celebration.
Horse Stable
Girls who are in love with horses will enjoy a party held at a horse stable. Inquire at local stables to find out if they offer any party packages. Some not only host parties with horseback riding, but offer extras such as access to a petting zoo or hayrides.
Hotel
Rent a hotel room as a venue for a girl's birthday party. The girls can enjoy the novelty of being in a hotel and use the amenities such as the pool. For tween or teen girls, look for a hotel within walking distance to a mall, favorite restaurant or movie theater.
