Dress up any chair to be a suitable throne for your little princess.
A princess is at home in a throne all her own, and a seat of royalty will be a wonderful prop for your little girl's birthday party. With just a few supplies, you can make a drab chair totally fabulous for her and create a wonderful party prop and a photo opportunity at the same time.
Instructions
1. Look through thrift shops or garage sales for an older yet sturdy wooden or metal chair. You don't have to buy anything fancy for this occasion -- as long as there is no damage that would make the chair unsteady or unsafe. You will be painting over any blemishes or general shabbiness, so its initial appearance should not concern you.
2. Once home, lay out a tarp or even a newspaper on your workspace. Paint the chair with your white paint. Paint all visible surfaces of the chair, and consider painting the bottom too, just in case the chair becomes upended at some point during the festivities. Depending on the beginning color of the chair, you may have to apply one to three more coats of white paint. Apply each coat only after the prior one has thoroughly dried.
3. Add decorative touches to the chair with pink and purple paint. Script your princess's name on the chair back so she knows it's hers. Paint swirls and shapes on other parts of the chair. Before these dry, sprinkle them with silver or gold glitter.
4. On the day of the party, or before you show it to her, drape a feather boa across the back of the chair and prop a tiara on the seat.
