How You Can Design A Unicorn

Design a three-dimensional unicorn art piece for your home.

If you or someone you know is a unicorn enthusiast, you can try designing your own unicorn as art piece to keep or give as a gift. Since unicorns are fantasy creatures, they can come in any color or theme that you want. Before beginning to design your unicorn, you should have a clear idea of the look of your unicorn in your mind. The supplies you need for this project are found where craft supplies are sold.

Instructions

1. Find some images of unicorns to get ideas about how you want your unicorn to look and as a reference to help you draw the features of your unicorn. Alternatively, gather photos of horses or a horse in a pose to help you draw the basic form for your unicorn.

2. Draw the unicorn to the size you want on a piece of poster board and refer to the photos of horses to help you. If possible, cut out a picture of a horse and trace it on the poster board if you are having trouble drawing freehand. Cut out the base shape of the unicorn. Poster board comes in different colors, so use some in the color that you want for the body of the unicorn to save time.

3. Paint the face and other smaller details with acrylic paints. Paint a dark eye using the images of a horse or unicorn as a reference for how it should look. Add a few small dots on the eye to make them appear reflective. Add nostrils and paint the hooves brown, gray or black. Make the horn on its head whatever color you like.

4. Glue craft feathers to the unicorn with white craft glue. Attach feathers to the back of the unicorn's neck for a mane and on the tail. Use whatever color you like or whatever color will match with the body of the unicorn. Wait two to three hours to make sure the glue has dried before you hang it up or give it as a gift.
