A Greek headdress is part of the costume.
The ancient Greek women wore headdresses and elaborate hair styles. According to Fashion Era, women of that time wore their hair up and tied with filet mesh and ribbons before they added headdresses to the style. To create an accurate ancient Greek costume, whether for a performance, Halloween or even a toga party, a woman needs to have the headdress with her hair up. A simple and elegant Greek headdress takes only a few minutes to make, but it can improve the appearance of the costume dramatically.
Instructions
1. Fit the hair band to the head. Make sure the band is comfortable and fits. If the band stretches, the problem is minimal, but if it is a rigid type, the band must fit comfortably. Remove the band from the head.
2. Glue bay leaves to the band. Cover the band in bay leaves to create the look of a leaf headdress often seen on ancient Greek urns and art. If bay leaves are not to personal taste, select oak leaves or any other preferred leaf. Allow the glue to dry.
3. Spray paint the leaves and band with golden-colored paint. Hold the spray paint away from the band and point it toward the band. Move the arm in a gentle sweeping motion back and forth until the band and leaves are covered.
4. Allow the paint to dry. Drying times will vary depending on the paint, but usually it will need about an hour or so.
