Noncheesy Bachelorette Party Ideas

Bachelorette parties have gotten a bad rap for being raunchy, raucous and yes, a little cheesy. But there are plenty of ways to celebrate an impending marriage with a gaggle of girls without resorting to a crazy night out filled with weird phallic straws and feather boas.

Just Say Spa

Book your favorite little haven for a pamperfest. Many spas will offer special packages for bachelorette groups, including champagne and snacks along with massages and manicures. If it fits your budget, consider hosting the party at a swank destination spa, where the group can squeeze in fitness classes and fabulous treatments in between lounging and catching up.

Take It On the Road

Plan a girlfriends' getaway---Vegas, Miami and New York are popular bachelorette destinations with plenty to do and see. Or try something low-key---a group of cabins in the woods or a little beach house for some back-to-nature fun.

Pack Your PJs

Plan an old-school pajama party---have everyone bring sleeping bags and PJs, stock the fridge with the fixings for your favorite indulgences (margaritas or hot fudge sundaes), load a few old rom-coms into the DVD player, and spend the evening giggling and chatting away like high schoolers.

Book Dinner and a Show

Make the bride's last single girls night out a swanky affair. Book a private room at a five-star restaurant and indulge in a fancy, multicourse dinner, then cap off the night with a live performance---opera, a musical, the ballet or even a rock concert. (Skip the Chippendales, though.)

Indulge the Bride's Passions

Whether the bride loves NASCAR or Nas, get stellar seats for an event, then find a fun club or bar to visit afterward for drinks. Or spend the day doing something else she loves---a bike tour, a pottery or cooking class, or playing beach volleyball.
