How You Can Do Fantasy Makeup

How to Do Fantasy Makeup

Be a fairy, video game heroine or masquerade beauty for a day with a fantasy makeup application. Exaggerated eyes and exotic color schemes accessorize almost any holiday or special costume and complement an actor or actress during a stage performance. Fantasy makeup styles range from dramatic makeup around the eyes to completely painted faces. Fantasy enthusiasts can choose to create a style of their own or use a picture of a fantasy character to reference while applying makeup.

Instructions

1. Apply foundation all over the face and eyes using the sponge, for liquid or cream foundation, or the brush, for powdered foundation. Wolf's Models Guide recommends applying several thin layers as opposed to one thick layer.

2. Enlarge your eyes by brushing white eye shadow from your top lashes to the brow and from your cheekbones to the lower lashes. This illusion is often used to give Japanese Anime and Manga characters unnaturally large eyes. Line the outer edges of your eyelids with a thick line of liquid eyeliner. Attach fake fantasy lashes, such as those fashioned in feathers or peacock-tail styles or apply a glittery, colored mascara to your natural lashes.

3. Make an exotic mask using a variety of eye shadow colors. Use deeper colors on your eyelids and draw lighter shades of the same color around your eyebrows and temples to create a butterfly-wing effect. Mineral-makeup-help.com recommends wetting the eye shadow brush before dipping it in the eye shadow to deepen the color.

4. For fantasy looks that require sharp edges and exact designs, consider using a makeup pencil to outline the areas to be colored. Use white, black or brown pencils to draw curved lines for peacock feathers, butterfly wings or cat eyes. Line your eyes with colored eyeliner if an outlined look is desired.

5. Use light pink, mauve or rouge blush on your cheeks. Keep areas close to the nose light and darken the blush towards the cheeks. Since the eyes are the main focus in many fantasy makeup styles, don't put too much emphasis on your cheeks, as this can detract from the overall look.

6. Finish the look with lipstick. Consider using dark blue tones, bright pink hues, deep purples or neon colors to set lips apart from an everyday style. Paint the outer edges of your lips in a dark lipstick and apply a lighter color on the inside.
