How to Create Your Own Character for Free Online
Last year Electronic Arts began experimenting with EA Sports Game Face, an online software that allows you to create your own character in a video game. By uploading a front and side photo of yourself to an online account, you can create your likeness as a character on compatible games.
Game Face is still in beta testing mode, which means improvements are still being made to correct glitches.
Instructions
1. Visit EA Sports World online to read photo specifications and instructions. Ideally, your photograph should be taken from at least 3 feet away and against a plain white background. You should not make any facial expressions. Photographs should be taken from a front view and a 90-degree side view.
2. Create an account with EA Sports World. Once you are logged in, you will be able to download the software necessary to create your game face. Software installation typically takes a few minutes, but may take longer based on your Internet speed. After the software has been installed, you may upload the photographs you took earlier.
3. Upload the front-facing photograph first. The software will ask you to place markers over various parts of your face, such as cheekbones, chin or eyes. Once you have completed this task, the software will analyze your face.
For a more accurate analysis, you should upload your side-profile photo as well, although this is not necessary to complete the facial analysis.
4. When the analysis is complete, usually after 2 minutes, the graphical makeup of your game face is complete. Exit the software and return to your EA Sports World account. In your Inbox will be an email welcoming you to EA Sports Game Face and allowing you to further customize your character.
5. Your photo generation will not include hair, so your character will be bald at first. Experiment with different hairstyles and accessorize until you find the perfect match.
Proceed to facial hair. If you are satisfied with your digital generation of your face, your game face is complete. If not, you can alter your eyebrows, eyes, nose and skin color.
Once you have made the adjustments and enhancements, turn on your EA Sports video game, which must be connected to the Internet. Load your game face.
