This unique handprint turkey magnet craft is a great project that will get the whole family involved. Since you will be using the handprints of several household members, everyone will play a part in making this Thanksgiving decoration. With a few basic materials you can have one of these little birds ready to decorate your fridge.
Instructions
1. Draw one large round circle and one small round circle onto a piece of brown construction paper. These will form the large round body and smaller round head of your turkey. The large circle should be at least as wide as the smallest handprint that will be used in the craft.
2. Cut out the circles, and glue the small circle onto the top of the large circle. Part of the small circle should stick up above the top of the large one.
3. Trace three handprints onto construction paper. One should be red, one orange, and one yellow. You will need three different sizes of handprints for this craft, you can use a child, mom and dad, or even three different sibling's handprints.
4. Use scissors to cut out all three of the different sized handprints.
5. Glue the smallest handprint onto the second largest, and then glue both of them onto the largest handprint. The palms should all be one on top of each other, and the fingers should have a layered look.
6. Attach the layered handprints to the back of the large round turkey's body, to form a tail.
7. Apply the two wiggly craft eyes to the small head of the turkey, but leave room for the beak and wattle too.
8. Make a triangle for the beak on yellow construction paper, and an elongated heart shape for the wattle on red construction paper.
9. Use glue to attach the triangle to the face of the turkey for a beak, and glue the heart on upside down beneath the beak to form the waddle.
10. Peel the paper off of the back of the magnets, and attach them to the back of your handprint turkey.
11. Display your new Thanksgiving decoration on your fridge for a unique holiday look.
